The Legacy of St. Benedict

The purpose of the Saint Leo Abbey Retreat and Educational Center is to meet the physical arid spiritual needs of God 's people. We do this by offering the gift of our total environmental, which provides an oasis for God's people to find wholeness, rejuvenation and recommitment. Through our reaching out in the name of the Church, we seek to be instruments of renewal, healing and light.

Why a Retreat?

A retreat is an opportunity to "step aside" from the work and worry of everyday living. It affords you to:

  • rest body and soul
  • review where you have been
  • plan your course for the future

A retreat often provides you with the energy and inner peace needed to 'carry on' with everyday living. It gives you an opportunity to reflect on your life in the quiet presence of the Spirit.

Who Can Benefit From a retreat?

You! Anyone who feels the need to get away from the daily pressures for a few days will benefit. Saint Leo Abbey retreats are for all who seek peace, serenity, and reflection.

Who Goes to Saint Leo Abbey Retreats?

Women, men, lay, clergy, religious, married couples, single, families, friends or groups of all faiths. The Abbey provides a special environment for persons seeking nourishment for their life journey. The natural landscape (over 51 acres of lake front and wood), clean accommodations, home-cooked meals, and the Benedictine community make Saint Leo Abbey a hospitable place for you.

What resources are available at Saint Leo Abbey Retreat Center?

Private rooms are assigned to each retreatant, except for group retreats. You have access to the Abbey Church, Chapel, Grotto, Gift Shop, and various lounges. There are wooded trails and areas for walking, tennis and racquetball courts, golf course and beautiful Lake Jovita (Clear Lake). You are invited to join the monks of Saint Leo Abbey for daily prayers and Mass.

Bring Your Group to Saint Leo Abbey.

Since 1974, the Monks of Saint Leo Abbey have offered quality and spiritually uplifting retreats for groups and parishes throughout Florida. All retreats are reprogrammed each year to ensure that they are fresh and current. Our facilities are also available for groups who wish to conduct their own programs. Our two centers are separate and self-contained and can provide for various sized groups.

Please call us for more specific information. If you or your group would like to reserve our facilities here at Saint Leo Abbey or if you would like to discuss your specific needs, please call or write to:
